Areas of Expertise

As head of the Career Exploration and Assessment team, Lenore assists students with career and major exploration and decision-making strategies; professional interpretations of CliftonStrengths®, Strong Interest Inventory®, and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)®; resume/cover letter critiques, internship and job search support, and LinkedIn profile reviews.

She is also a career coach specializing in the following fields:

  • Arts, Media and Communication
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)
  • Public Policy, Politics, Education, and Human Services

About Lenore

Lenore has 20 years of experience in college career advising and assessment, and 14 years in policy research, writing and editing in government consulting, politics and journalism organizations. She has experience in advising students and alumni of all ages in communication, consulting, information technology, journalism, and many other disciplines. Lenore particularly enjoys helping students learn about their passions, as well as how to market themselves to employers who fit their values, skills, and strengths. She has visited Russia several times, teaches ESL classes in her church, and enjoys working with international students. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, she also lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, and now lives in Alexandria, Virginia.


Lenore holds a BA in History from the University of Virginia, and a M.Ed in Counseling and Development from George Mason University.


Lenore is a Board Certified Coach and has interpreted the Strong Interest Inventory® for 20 years. She is certified as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) practitioner and a CliftonStrengths educator.

Co-recipient of 2017 Service to International Students Award from the National Career Development Association.

Classes Taught

Lenore has served as an instructor in the Elliott School of International Affairs, previously teaching IAFF 2040: Career Development and Internship Preparation. She currently teaches IAFF 1001: First-Year Experience.
