GW’s investment in the career and professional development of students and alumni is demonstrated by the extensive career services and professional networks available through the Center for Career Services, school- based career centers, and the Office of Alumni Relations.

Center for Career Services
The Center for Career Services is the University Career Center and provides exceptional services and resources for all GW students that include:
- Student Employment - part-time jobs and support for students and employers interested in Federal Work Study and non-Federal Work Study positions on campus (excluding graduate assistantships)
- Handshake - GW's career management system that includes access to thousands of internships and jobs
- Online Resources - Including Leadership Directories, Washington Business Journal, Brad Traverse Jobs
- Events and Programs - Including career and internship fairs, specialized industry career expos, employer information sessions, Buff & Blue Employer Site Visits (undergraduate students only), Employer-in-Residence
The Center for Career Services also provides specialized career coaching and resources for: Undergraduate degree-seeking students, undergraduate alumni and international exchange students from Columbian College of Arts and Sciences (including Corcoran School of the Arts & Design and School of Media & Public Affairs), Elliott School of International Affairs, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Nursing and the Milken Institute School of Public Health.
Alumni Career Services
The Center for Career Services partners with the Office of Alumni Relations to provide opportunities for our alumni to exchange career advice with fellow alumni, expand their professional connections, advance their careers and connect with and mentor current students through Career Connect, webinars, virtual networking and more.
School-Based Career Services
Several academic units at GW have specialized career services departments that can help you find the information and support you need. For students and alumni of the following schools, please contact your school career services department or student services office for more information
Columbian College of Arts and Sciences: Serves graduate students of the Columbian School of Arts and Sciences (including Corcoran School of the Arts & Design and School of Media & Public Affairs).
School of Business F. David Fowler Career Center: Serves all undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of the School of Business.
Graduate School of Education and Human Development Office of Career Services: Serves all students and alumni of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
Elliott School of International Affairs Graduate Student Career Development: Serves all graduate students and graduate alumni of the Elliott School of International Affairs.
School of Engineering and Applied Science W. Scott Amey Career Services Center: Provides career development services for all current students and recent alumni (up to one year past graduation) within the School of Engineering & Applied Science.
Law School Center for Professional Development & Career Strategy: Serves all students and alumni of the Law School.
School of Medicine and Health Sciences: SMHS students are welcome to use the consulting services of both their school-based department and the main Center for Career Services. The SMHS Office of Student Professional Enrichment provides specialized career services for their medical students.
Graduate School of Political Management Career Services: Serves all students and alumni of the Graduate School of Political Management.
College of Professional Studies Career Services: Serves all students and alumni of the College of Professional Studies.
Milken Institute School of Public Health Career Services Center: Serves all graduate students and alumni of the Milken Institute School of Public Health.
Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration Career Development Services: Serves all students and alumni of the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration.
