Professional Praxis

On August 24, 2026, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) issued updated guidance on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) eligibility criteria.

GW is currently reviewing this guidance to ensure Professional Praxis and other CPT-eligible programs remain in full alignment with federal requirements. As part of this review, GW is pausing authorization of new CPT requests for training that are not a required component of a student's academic program.

Students who already hold authorized CPT should continue to follow the employer, location, dates, and other terms listed on their current Form I-20 and should not make any changes to their training arrangement without first consulting GW International Services.
