Professional Praxis

Professional Praxis encourages students to make the most of their off-campus career-related job or internship opportunities through self-reflection and analysis of their professional growth. Students will receive transcript documentation in the form of a 0 credit Pass / No Pass course for each semester they participate in the program. Please see the Student Checklist and Guide for information regarding eligibility and how to apply.

International Students

Professional Praxis serves as the “appropriate curricular course” to which you must apply and from which you must receive "proof of enrollment in the appropriate curricular course" before applying for CPT, for students in SEAS, CCAS, and ESIA undergraduate programs. International students from all schools other than the ones listed above can contact their school-specific career center to ask about similar opportunities.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Please note, even in the case that a student's internship spans multiple semesters, this course must be applied for one semester at a time. The application period for each semester is designed to give students ample time to apply for each upcoming semester, so that they can receive "proof of enrollment in the appropriate curricular course" in an adequate timeframe.

Semester Applications Begin Application / Drop Deadline Final Packet Due Date
Winter Break 2017 / Spring 2018 11/13/2017 04/02/2018 04/30/2018
Summer 2018 04/02/2018 08/10/2018 08/27/2018

Please note, Winter Break and Spring are grouped under a single course session. If a student is pursuing a job or internship that only takes place during the Winter Break and is not pursing a job or internship in the Spring, it is suggested that the student submit their final packet as soon as the Winter Break internship is over, to avoid forgetting it.

Dropping the Course

Students may only drop the Professional Praxis course if the student never received CPT authorization and/or did not participate in an internship for any length of time, AND the Drop Deadline (listed above) for the semester has not yet passed. If these criteria are met, a student may send an email to requesting to be dropped from the course. Students who miss the drop deadline will not be able to drop the course.
