FWS Program Overview Webinars

This summer, we’ll be hosting two FWS Program Overview webinar sessions to provide a deeper understanding of FWS job searching and how offer amounts are paid out through on-campus positions. These sessions will clarify what it means to hold an FWS position, the importance in monitoring your earnings, and what occurs once you’ve earned your FWS amount entirely. Whether you’re new to FWS or looking for a refresher, these sessions will help you feel confident navigating the program and your job search.

We will also offer two Keys to Getting an On-Campus Job webinars focused on equipping you with practical, actionable strategies for helping you apply to a campus position. In these sessions, you’ll learn how to effectively search for roles, navigate the job portal, the importance in tailoring your resume to specific job descriptions, and position your experiences in a way that highlights transferable skills.

Employment Opportunities and Preparation for International Students Workshop - CCS x ISO

We’re excited to host the Employment Opportunities and Preparation for International Students workshop  in partnership with the International Services Office (ISO), specifically designed to address employment regulations and considerations unique to international students. The presentation is tailored to give incoming and returning international students the tools they need to maximize the strength of their applications, as well as provide additional information on how to navigate through available employment opportunities and understanding work culture at GWU. 

We’ll also review work authorization guidelines, hour limitations, and important compliance factors when pursuing on-campus employment while maintaining visa status. We will also review best practices for creating resumes and cover letters, as well as how to prepare for the interview process. This section will be presented by career coaches housed in the Center for Career Services.

Virtual Resumania - The Center for Career Services

During this event, you’ll have the chance to sit down virtually with a member from the Center for Career Services who will provide tailored suggestions to help you refine your formatting, strengthen your bullet points, and clearly articulate your skills, experiences, and accomplishments in a way that aligns with your job search.

Whether you’re creating your first resume or updating an existing one, reviewers will offer actionable advice on highlighting transferable skills and ensuring your document reflects professionalism and attention to detail. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions about how to tailor your resume for specific roles and stand out in a competitive applicant pool.

This is an excellent way to build confidence in your application materials, receive constructive feedback in a supportive setting, and position yourself more strongly before submitting applications for summer and fall opportunities.
